Dr. Nurik is a licensed psychologist who provides individual, marital, and family therapy. She also conducts psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and college-age individuals, with an emphasis on evaluating learning disabilities. In addition, she has led group therapy sessions for women and adolescent girls.
Previously, at her private practice in Greensboro, North Carolina, Dr. Nurik specialized in cognitive behavioral interventions to treat anxiety-related disorders and conduct problems. She also served as Director of Psychology, Acting Program Director, and Staff Psychologist of an inpatient unit at Holliswood Hospital in New York, as well as civilian psychologist for the New York City Police Department.
Dr. Nurik received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1978, and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University in 1980. In 1983, she earned a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School at Yeshiva University/Albert Einstein Medical College in New York, and in 1987, she earned a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from that institution. She joined Gelernter and Associates in 1997.
Dr. Nurik lives in East Cobb with her spouse and two children. Her extensive advanced training includes:
