Dr. Yankus is a licensed psychologist who provides psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and college-age individuals. She helps parents and teachers understand a child’s learning style and educates students about their strengths and needs. She also conducts evaluations for adults seeking deeper understanding and/or diagnostic clarity about issues pertaining to learning, attention, personality, and mood.
Dr. Yankus received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Emory University in 1989. In her first position, she worked as a Mental Health Assistant at an in-patient psychiatric hospital on the children’s unit. Later, she worked as a teaching assistant and eventually a lead teacher at a K-12 school for children with learning differences. In 1991, she entered the University of Georgia, where she earned a Master’s degree in 1994 and a Doctorate degree in Educational Psychology with a minor in marriage and family therapy in 1996.
As part of her doctoral training, Dr. Yankus participated in an internship at Children’s Hospitals of Minneapolis and St. Paul in Minnesota, where she evaluated children for learning disabilities, ADHD, Down Syndrome, developmental delays, and/or Autism Spectrum Disorders. For five years, she served as the School Psychologist for The Howard School in Atlanta, which specializes in serving children with language-based learning disabilities and differences.
Dr. Yankus joined Gelernter and Associates in 2002. She lives in East Cobb with her husband and two children. Her professional affiliations include:
